New York is a large state, and we are located over 350 miles (600 kilometers) from that most famous of cities, New York City. Driving from New York City to Houghton is a day-long adventure. Houghton is a small town located in a rural setting; the town is about 75 miles due south of Rochester, NY and 75 miles southeast of Buffalo, NY. The closest small city is Olean, NY, about 35 miles to the southwest.
Houghton is a safe, rural community in western New York state. The town is also the home to Houghton College.
