Houghton Academy has given me the opportunity to do what I love most, serving people. Being boarding life coordinator allows each day to be different from the day before as I meet the needs of the culturally diverse group of young students that attend here. My wife and I traveled to Asia during the summer of 2011 for 3 weeks in China, 10 days in Korea, and 10 days in Japan. We also spent 3 weeks traveling around the USA as we headed home from Asia. This trip helped me remember how different the cultures are that our students are coming from and has helped motivate me to provide opportunities for our students to experience the USA and Houghton with fresh eyes and ears guiding and directing our activities.
