Welcome to Houghton Academy’s website. Since 1883, Houghton Academy has been educating young people from across America, and we have worked with international students for over sixty years.
Of all the adjectives which may be used to describe Houghton Academy, the most important descriptor is “Christian.” From our first day through this moment, the Academy’s mission has always been to instill students with Biblical values and morality so that these young people will become the strong and capable leaders our world desperately needs.
What is Houghton Academy comprised of? Of course the Academy has many of the typical school facilities such as a gymnasium, an auditorium, classrooms, a cafeteria, dorms, buses, science labs and computers. The facilities support a strong college preparatory curriculum with AP classes, college electives, science labs and core courses. In these things Houghton Academy is like many other schools. But what no other school offers is the Academy’s unique blend of faculty and staff, all of whom are charged with serving as positive Christian role models. Each employee plays an important part in creating a safe, welcoming, caring and academically challenging environment in which genuine learning thrives and students from across the world feel comfortable.
