Day Student Admissions
Houghton Academy is not just a boarding school. Among our 180 secondary students, close to 130 of them are from the local area. Some students walk to school from right here in town, while other students commute to Houghton Academy from outlying communities like Wellsville, Scio, Perry, Warsaw, Arcade, Great Valley, Angelica, Fillmore, and Belfast. The diversity of our student body is one aspect of our school that many students enjoy.
Grades 7 through 12
The middle school and high school resides on our campus in Houghton. To be considered for admission, all middle and high school students must submit a completed application which includes references from current teachers and a copy of school records. Local students are encouraged to visit school for a day. If you are able to visit during the school year, you are encouraged to attend classes for a day. Some testing is often administered prior to enrollment.
Transportation to school
Local students arrive at the Academy through a variety of means, from walking to driving to riding buses. Many carpools are available. Students living south of Houghton along the route 19 corridor may benefit from the Allegany County Transit system. Transportation to either campus of Houghton Academy may be available through your local school district. Please contact us if you have questions.
