Day Student Admissions

Houghton Academy is not just a boarding school! Among our 130 secondary students, about half of them are from Western New York.

Some students walk to school from right here in town, while other students commute to Houghton Academy from outlying communities including Angelica, Arcade, Belfast, Belmont, Black Creek, Canandaigua, Caneadea, Castile, Cuba, East Concord, Fillmore, Friendship, Holland, Houghton, Machias, Nunda, Perry, Rushford, Wellsville, and Yorkshire. The diversity of our student body is one aspect of our school that many students enjoy, and it is not just a diversity of nations! Houghton Academy is proud to enroll students from a wide array of Southern Tier communities. At the end of the day, our "school district" is way bigger than the entire state of Rhode Island!

Spend a day with us!

We'd love for you to spend a day on campus attending our classes, eating our food, and meeting our teachers. Most visitors from the local area remark about the stunning difference between Houghton Academy and their local public school. But you should know--the vast majority of local students who visit end up enrolling! After you visit, you'll better understand why families from so many surrounding communities are eager to join us.

To be considered for admission, all middle and high school students must submit a completed application (below). We'll review your application, and contact you for the next step--the process is pretty simple and (we hope) non-threatening.

An advantage of our small school is that athletics are accessible to many students with different levels of athleticism. More
