Service

Our understanding of what really matters in the world and of what really matters in relationship demands that we serve one another. The faculty and staff model service each day, and students are challenged to find ways to attend to the needs of their neighbor as those needs become known. While many aspire to attain power and prestige through leadership, at Houghton Academy we have embraced the Biblical model of leadership which, in a word, is service.

Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves. Luke 22
