Houghton Academy's athletic program is built with the realization that sports can play a vital role in the development of character.
We field a variety of teams for boys and girls. Houghton Academy is a member of the New York State High School Athletic Association, and thus we compete against both public and private schools in our area. Students who are interested in participation in inter-scholastic sports at Houghton Academy should contact our Interim Athletics Coordinator, Ms. Jessica Nelson regarding eligibility to participate after you transfer.
Team sports include girls volleyball, girls basketball, boys soccer, boys basketball, and co-ed golf. Several teams have advanced to state tournaments, including the 1996 state champion girls volleyball team, and a number of individual athletes have gone on to become successful at the collegiate level. Sports alone, however, is not why anyone has ever enrolled here.
Houghton Academy students may participate in active intramural competition, join strong interscholastic teams, or even enjoy our downhill ski club. A distinctive advantage at Houghton is access to a number of athletic facilities at nearby Houghton College.
