“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”   Proverbs 3:5-6

This is my family’s life verse - and through the years the Lord has never failed to guide us as we remain faithful to Him. Now the Lord has directed my path to Houghton Academy to teach English grades 11 and 12.  I am excited to lead students on their path to college and life. I see learning as an act of faith – one that honors the God who made us to be thinking and caring individuals.  In class, we will explore important themes in literature, focus on academic writing, and practice critical thinking skills. Developing strong research skills, essay writing techniques, and MLA procedures will prepare students for college academics. We will also read novels, poems, plays, and short stories and even write our own haiku. But most of all, I hope my students learn that “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” (A.A. Milne)
