Houghton Academy

Bible, Speech (1995)

I grew up near Buffalo in Lancaster New York, but attended Clarence Central High School. While there, I learned many things that had nothing to do with what the teachers had in their lesson plans. It didn’t occur to me at the time, but I was learning a worldview; one that didn’t include God.

Since finishing my formal education, I have had the joy of being a youth pastor for seven years. God also allowed me to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ on four continents preaching on mission trips. Since I have come to Houghton Academy, it has been my goal to help the students here understand who God is and what He is telling us in the Bible.

The Bible classes are designed to try to help the students figure out who they are in relation to God’s standards. Then I encourage them to act. For some it means to choose to accept Jesus as Lord. For some, it means to go and serve others. For some, it means to study more, in order to make a wise decision about what to do with new ideas.

I greatly enjoy working with our students. The diversity of Churches represented helps us all to think broadly about what is really essential to our faith. The diversity of students from various cultures forces us to think about applications that are meaningful not just here in the US, but around the world.

In Bible class, we seek the Truth, knowing that when we find it, God will be there waiting for us .
